Tunge is the language of the kattuz as spoken on Auwjuland and especially in Snaiwdene. The language is related to the Istvanistani language and is considered to have a common ancestor with that language and was previously considered to be extinct. During their period of captivity in the Unit 666 compound. the kattuz were taught the extinct language because their Jingdaoese captors did not feel comfortable teaching their holy language to what they perceived as anthropomorphic animals, nor did they want them to feel any affiliation with an existing nation by having them use their language.

The word "tunge" literally means tongue in Istvanistani.
