Lord in Shirekeep

The title Lord in Shirekeep or Lady in Shirekeep is the lowest form of titled nobility in Shireroth, ranking below viscounts and barons, but above other (untitled) nobles. It is a life peerage, meaning it cannot be inherited. Unique among all noble titles in Shireroth, holding the title Lord/Lady in Shirekeep exempts the holder and the holder's household from all Shirerithian taxes if resident in Shirekeep. Due to its tax-free status, the Imperial Government has made the awarding of the title rare; only three people currently hold it: Jeremy Archer, Evgeniya Sotnikova, and Benjamin Kern (the latter two have later also been elevated to viscomital dignity).

A non-titled noble named John Smith would be titled "Lord John Smith", but a Lord in Shirekeep of the same name would be titled "The Lord John Smith" or, more formally, "The Lord John Smith, Lord in Shirekeep".
