The 2020 North Antarctica micrasquake occurred on 2 May 2020, south of Livingston in eastern North Antarctica killing 25 people. It struck at 6:22 a.m. local time (01:22 CMT) with a magnitude of 5.2 Mw, at a depth of 5.3 kilometres. The epicentre was around 12 kilometres south of Livingston.

Damage

Several buildings in the southern part of Livingston were destroyed by the quake, including over 700 residential properties.

Casualties

A total of 25 people were killed in the micrasquake, with a further 412 injured, 49 of those being severely injured.
