Metzler University, sometimes known by its original name, University of Sir John Metzler III, is Shireroth's most prestigious and oldest university, located in Shirekeep. A degree from it is considered to be the stepping stone for a career in the Imperial civil service.
Originally a private university, it was nationalised in 1621 by Kaiser Ayreon III. Since then, it has been owned by the Kaiser's Court, to which it directly reports.
