The Askari Regiment, established on 20.V.1724 AN is a paramilitary formation of the Benacian Union, directly subordinated to the High Presidium of the Benacian Union. It is chiefly notable for being recruited from amongst the natives of Dromosker Island and officered by members of the lesser nobility of the Hexarchy. Legend has it that the services of the regiment were purchased through the donation of a juvenile breeding pair of Tee-als to the reigning Prefect of the Hexarchy.
A significant proportion of the regiment was reputed to have been recruited from amongst the denigrated outcasts of Dromosker society known as the raskol. These raskol are the male youths expelled from native villages when they are deemed a challenge to the headman or else there is a lack of locally available brides.
