The BNS Tormentor (U-113), the sole example built and launched of the Type XXVI class of nuclear-powered guided missile submarines, entered into service with the Maritime Forces of the Black Legions in the last month of 1689 AN. Initially envisioned as a class of nine submarines, the construction programme was cancelled by Benacia Command after the completion of the first hull owing to delays and cost overruns reported to have been related to difficulties in integrating a nuclear reactor unit inherited from the Shirerithian Poltroon-class of submarine into a scaled-up propulsion drive system bearing an uncanny resemblance to that found on the Awake-class diesel submarine.
