The city is known as a crossroads for Keltia, standing between the capital of Cárdenas and Parap. As such, it is known for having a large industrial area, and holding much economic power.

It is also one of the central places for the Faith of Inti, the indigenous religion of the Wechua people, through the Temple of Saramama, one of the major places of worship in the religion.
