Nathan Shepard was born on September 20, 1987. He is currently a first year sophomore at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, USA. Nathan enjoys history, especially European and Ancient history, cartoons, science fiction books written in the Fifties, and art, especially abstract and free-form poetry.

His micronational politics are remarkably conservative. His policies as emperor have brought an increasing amount of authoritarian programs to Natopia, as well as a war-mongering foreign policy and streaks of isolationist and denouncing several multi-lateral international initiatives. While the Natopian economy is in shambles, he nonetheless pushes for an extremely capitalistic market, himself owning the conglomerate Dingo Enterprises which is responsible for producing useless widgets and is the parent company of Aeronautics and Space Shipyards. While his economic and civil liberties policies are conservative, Natopians' enjoy extensive personal rights as well as universal citizenship and opportunity to serve the Royal Frenzy.

In real life, Nathan is a strong liberal, advocating gay rights and stronger multi-lateral cooperation. He is a self-described democratic socialist in the political spectrum.

Nathan founded the City of Natopia on August 23, 2002. Since that time he has constantly been involved in bringing that nation a degree of prominence and respect in the community. In his more than 4 years of micronationalism, Nathan has been a citizen of Korhal, Lavalon, the Dinarchy of Antica, and Alrodria. Nathan's Korhali citizenship allowed him to gain Antican citizenship while retaining other citizenships, a rare anomaly due to Antica's citizenship policy, due to Korhal being annexed into Antica.

Lavalon was a primary concern of Nathan's for almost a year. Joining at the request of Zachary Klaas, Nathan was immediatly appointed to the position of Chief Justice, the position he served for his entire life in Lavalon. Nathan left Lavalon in early 2005 due to personal differences with the newest generation of Lavalonian immigrants. After the Venerable Union of Aligned States (VUAS) brought Lavalon under Natopia, Nathan returned to Lavalon as a resident. Nathan's Lavalonian residency/citizenship was self-terminated for a final time when Lavalon left VUAS.

Nathan Shepard, and usually Tasneem Chowdhury, are associated with the Free Juice and Bagels Party, and the "Bagelcratican Plot." During the months leading up to Nathan's departure from Lavalon, members of the opposition to the Progressive Bagelcratican Party of Lavalon, then the majority party of Lavalon, began to say that the Bagelcraticans were simply a tool for Natopian domination of Lavalon. Some would say this accusation proved true, citing VUAS, whiles others maintain that the opposition was demonstrating "rasism towards Natopians."

Nathan is now the Sovereign Natopian Emperor, an architect of the Non-Aligned Movement and the junior Administrator of the Micronational Cartography Society. He serves as a Lord Justice in Stormark and the Vice Minister of State for Justice in Gotzborg.
