The National Investigation Commission (Alexandrian: Commission Nationale d'Enquête; Martino: Comisión Nacional de Investigación; Wechua: Suyup Taripay Tantanakuy) was a special investigative body established by the government of Nouvelle Alexandrie on 5.III.1739 AN to investigate the causes, conduct, and consequences of the Spring Crisis of 1739. Led by Supreme Court Justice Elena Vidal, the commission conducted a comprehensive nine-month investigation that resulted in the publication of the landmark 1,247-page Vidal Report on 15.XII.1739 AN.

The commission's work significantly influenced subsequent military and governmental reforms in Nouvelle Alexandrie, leading to the establishment of the permanent Office of Democratic Integrity and contributing to major legislative changes including the Military Reform Act, 1739 and Government Communications Security Act, 1739.

Background

Following the defeat of the Spring Crisis coup attempt, Premier Marissa Santini's government faced mounting pressure to conduct a thorough investigation of the events. The Emergency Powers Act, 1739 provided legal authority for the establishment of a special investigative commission with unprecedented powers to access classified information and compel testimony from both military and civilian officials.

The commission's creation was announced by Premier Marissa Santini during her evening address on 5.III.1739 AN, with Supreme Court Justice Elena Vidal named as chairwoman. The choice of Vidal, known for her expertise in constitutional law and reputation for independence, was widely praised across the political spectrum.
