The MCS's political map, almost exclusively known as the claimsmap or claims map, is the organisation's primary cartographic output. It portrays the current extent of the land claims of the MCS's nations, listing all existing sovereign members in its legend, using individual fill colours for each. The claimsmap's usage of hexadecimal colour #009a00 (RGB 0, 154, 0) for land unclaimed by any member has led to such areas affectionately being nicknamed "The Green".

Publication of the claimsmap is primarily dependent on the number of recent claims passed by the Council, with each new edition being announced with an overview of the additions, expansions, reductions and removals made. The claimsmap has been published as frequently as once a week or on occasions multiple months after the previous version at differing times through its history, with no official timeframe for its publication enshrined. The map's versions follow a numbering system of ##.#.# where the first digits represent a series, the second a subseries and the third an individual update. Subseries and series of maps may be either approached on a natural cycle of updates, increasing by one for every ten or one hundred updates, respectively, or have been fast-tracked in prior years due to either a significant number of political changes in one update or external factors such as the induction of a new cartographer.

The claimsmap is exclusively updated by a member of the Council, which has generally been the Administrator-General for the majority of its history or by an individual in a dedicated cartographer's role within the society.
