The University of Noursala (Commonspeak: Yunerversitë ov Nörsale), often abbreviated as UN or UNoursala, is a major public research university in the Aerlan capital of Noursala.

History

The university traces it's roots to the foundation of the Medical College of Noursalah, in the year 1625 AN by Doctors Ezra Mochain and Oliver Tomswell. The doctors, who hailed from Zareda, established the school to train doctors in the Noursala region. As the college grew in size, a law school was established across the road from the medical school. The medical campus was slightly damaged during the Neo-Adamite attack on the city in 1685 AN, and was quickly rebuilt with help from private donors.

A great loss came to the school in 1690 AN, when Marrigan Hall, the central building of the medical campus containing many of the laboratories, was gutted by a large fire. Investigators determined that the fire was started by a faulty wire connected to a fume hood that was installed during the building's repair from the Neo-Adamite attack. Countless decades of research were lost in the fire, as well as the lives of two professors while they were attempting to save their research. A new, state of the art building was constructed on the site of Marrigan Hall, completed in 1695 AN. The new hall, named the Dr. Jack Miller Memorial Hall, was named after one of the doctors who perished in the fire. The other professor who perished, Dr. Lewis McCulligan, has a laboratory in the hall named in his honor. Both professors are also honored with a plaque under the Aerlan flag located in the campus quad. Both Dr. Miller and Dr. McCulligan posthumously received the title "Hero of Aerla" from President Henry Cassian.

When Aerla declared it's sovereignty in 1709 AN, it officially certified the the school (now named the College at Noursala) as the University of Noursala, although it had been unofficially going by that name for some time.

The University's Law Library is the largest repository of legal texts in the nation.
A typical first-year English lecture.
