Caught It! is a dice based brosatamış simulation.

The game

The game can be played between two players or even alone. It is played with two dice: a ten-sided dice (number 1-10) called "batting dice" and a six-sided long dice called "defense dice". Two sheets of paper are used as scorecard for each team and another sheet is used to keep track of the 100 offensive actions (two halves of 50).

The batting dice has numbers from 1 to 10. When a number from 1 to 9 is signalled, the defense dice is rolled. When the number 10 is signalled, the attacking team automatically gains 10 points with no need of rolling the defense dice.

The defense dice is labeled 'Foul Area','Base','Caught it!','No Base','Defended','Caught it!'.

  • FOUL AREA: means the batted ball ended up in the Foul Area and the attacking team scores 0 points and will switch to defense in the next Offensive Action.
  • BASE: means that the ball wasn't caught by one of the attacking fielders but was picked up by a defensive player instead who reached the base before the attacking batter. The defending team gains 1 point and will attack in the next Offensive Action.
  • NO BASE: means that the ball wasn't caught by one of the attacking fielders but was picked up by a defensive player instead. However, the defensive team didn't manage to reach the base before the attacking batter. The attacking team proceeds with the next Offensive Action.
  • DEFENDED: means a defense player caught the batted ball. The attacking team scores 0 points and will switch to defense in the next Offensive Action.
  • CAUGHT IT!: means an attacking player has caught the batted ball scoring the point signalled in the batting dice. The attacking team proceeds with the next Offensive Action.

The batting side who plays "at home" starts the game by rolling the batting dice followed by the defensive side who rolls the defense dice (except when a "10" is signalled). In the second half (51st Offensive Action),the "away" team starts the game. When a "Caught it!" is signalled, the point is recorded on the attacking team scorecard.

Due to being highly portable and simple to use, this game is appreciated in Birgeshir. However, the game has no skill element making the simulation quite "poor".
