Brosatamış is a Birgesh traditional mixed gender sport in which two teams of five players (three males and two females) challenge each other for 100 offensive actions (split into two halves of 50 offensive actions) trying to get the largest number of the available offensive actions to have more attempts to score by catching a fly ball hit by the teammate batter. The number of points are determined on which area of the field was the attacking player at the moment of the catch. The object of the game is to score more points than the opposing team.

Brosatamış games are played on a sort of rectangular field measuring 90m long and 46m wide (approximately) divided in 9 lines that determine the scoring zones. Almost at the center of the field there is a yellow line (center spot) that separates the gender areas (men area and women area).

Players on the field

The players of both teams are 5 (3 males and 2 females) but only players of the same sex oppose each other directly on the field of play. In an offensive action, all the players of both teams are scattered around the scoring zones: 5 defensive players and 4 offensive players + 1 at batting. The five defensive players are separated into three male players in the men area and two female players in the women area. The four offensive players are separated into two male players in the men area and two female players in the female area + one male batter in the batter's box.

Positions:

Batter: must be the first male componing of the team and he become a Forward Fielder only in defensive actions.

Fielders: they are those players scattered around the scoring zones (5 in defense and 4 in offense).

The defending players are placed in the following positions:

- 3 male Forward Fielders (2 fielders + 1 batter who becomes fielder and stays on the 1 point area)
- 2 female End Zone Fielders

The attacking players are placed in the following positions:

- 1 male Batter
- 2 male Forward Catchers
- 2 female End Zone Catchers

Substitutions

Substitutions are unlimited and a substituted player can return on the field. The substituted player must be of the same gender sex as the substituent player.

Team uniforms

The players must wear matching jerseys and trousers (or skirts for female players). The typical Brosatamış jersey is sleeveless and features the player's number and name on the back, and the team logo (on the front) is in the center of the chest. The players can also wear caps.

Rules and Gameplay

A Brosatamış match lasts for two halves of 50 offensive actions. An offensive action is a segment of the game (like innings in baseball) which one team attempts to score while the other team attempts to prevent the first from scoring. In a few words,an offensive action constitutes one turn at bat. The 100 offensive actions are common for both teams and therefore they are not 100 offensive actions for each of the two teams. In the first half, the home team starts to bat while in the second half is the away team that starts to bat. The object of the game is to score more points than the opposing team.

Offensive action

The offensive action starts with the batter that himself throws the ball and hits it with his bat trying to hit the ball as far as possible in order to score more points if another teammate catch it. In fact, the number of points are determined on which area of the field was the attacking player at the moment of the catch. For example: if the offensive player catch the ball in the 5 zone, the attacking team score 5 points and if a player of the same team catch the fly ball in the 3 zone in the next offensive action, the score will be 8 (5 + 3) and so on. Note: after a score, the offensive team will pass to the next offensive action.
If a player of the attacking team misses the ball after the catch,it won't be a score and the player should simply try to pick the ball up in order to save the next offensive action with another batting. The same is true if a defense player misses the ball and fails to pick it up.
If the ball hit by the batter ends up on the filed without bieng catch or touch from both teams, the action continues until a player of one of the two teams picks up the ball.
If the batter hits the ball over the 9 zone (over the outfield fence),the offensive team score 10 points. That's why the area is called "10 points area".
The batter doesn't reach the other teammate after hitting the ball. The only time when the batter runs is when tries to reach the white plate before the defense player of the opponent team (see "Defensive action" below).
If the fly ball hit by the batter ends up in the foul area, the defense team switch in the offensive action. The same is when the fly ball is being touched by an offensive player and it ends up in the foul area. If the fly ball hit by the batter is being touched by a defense player and than it ends up in the foul area, the attacking team will continue with the next offensive action.

The offensive players can catch the ball with both hands. They don't wear gloves.

The offensive player who is not near the ball can tackle the defensive players in order to prevent them from hindering the offensive teammate who is trying to catch the ball.

Defensive action

The defense players are those who try to catch the fly ball hit by the batter of the opponent team in order to stop their offensive action and switch to attack. If a defense player misses the ball after the catch (or an offensive player misses the ball and fails to pick it up or the ball hit by the offensive batter ends up on the filed without bieng catch or touch from both teams) it won't stop the action and the defense player should try to pick up the ball and throw it to the other teammate (the one on the 1 point area) in order to reach the white plate and touch it before the batter (like touching the bases in baseball). In this way,the defense team will gain 1 point and switch to the offensive action. If the defense team fails on touching the white plate (because the batter of the opponent team has touched it before or because any offensive player has intercepted the ball),the attacking team will continue with another offensive action.

The defense players must catch the ball with one gloved hand.

The defense players can also tackle the offensive players in order to prevent a score.

Fouls

The only foul in Brosatamış is when a player reach the area of the other gender. If the foul is committed by an attacking player, the defending team will switch in the offensive action. If the foul is committed by a defending player, the offensive team will proceed directly to the next offensive action.

Ball and Bat

The ball is spherical and made of leather and is around 12cm in diameter. The bat is like a baseball or cricket bat but with the broad tip.

Competition

Winning brings the team 5 points,a draw brings in 3 points and the losing team will score no points.
