The 2020 FFL season was the third season of the Florian Football League. The season began on the 9th August 2020 and conclude with President Bowl III which was played on the 7th February 2021, at Thunder Park, Oldhaven. The league was expanded to 24 teams from 18 and the league introduced divisions for the first time. Also, both conferences were renamed. All teams in the league played 17 regular-season games.
New Collective Bargaining Agreement
When the 2019 season concluded, the league's new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) came into effect. Among the major changes in the new CBA included:
- Expansion of the playoffs to 14 teams.
- Reducing the number of regular-season games from 17 to 16 from 2021 and introduction of a bye week.
- Team roster increase from 53 to 55.
Rule changes
The following rule changes have been enforced:
- The rule requiring players to touch the ball the down in the endzone for a touchdown has been removed.
- An additional PAT (Point after Touchdown) option, a ten-yard scrimmage attempt for three points, has been added.
Draft
The 2020 FFL Draft took place on April 23-24,2020 in Vice City and it had a total of three rounds. Expansion team Longsight Lions was chosen to pick first by a one-off draft lottery with other expansion franchises. The Lions would go on to select Quarterback, Patrick Thomas from Kingsland State University.
