'''Hurmumol''' is the ancestral and liturgical language of the [[Hurmu]]dans. In daily life, Hurmumol was replaced by [[Hurmu Norse]] in the 14th century. The name ''Hurmumol'' is actually Hurmu Norse in origin, from ''Hurmumaal'', meaning "Hurmu language". In modern Hurmu Norse, however, the name of Hurmumol is spelt ''Hurmumol''.

The word for the country of the Hurmudans, ''Hurmu'', means sky in Hurmumol, and it is derived from the word ''Hurmu-dan-ka'' ("Sky people"), reflecting the mythological belief that Hurmudans came to Micras through meteors from the sky.

Hurmumol takes its letters from the standard Machiavellian alphabet, without diacritics. It uses, however, hyphens (-) and apostrophes (') liberally.
