Third Consistory
The Third Consistory of the Kasterburg Republic is the current legislature of the nation. It is an appointed parliament which official duty is to provide council to the Magistrate, the head of state of the nation. Although the Cosistory can adopt laws, these only enter into force when promulgated by the Magistrate in a decree. The Third Consistory is in session from 1674, following the disbanding of the Second Consistory.
Composition
The Second Consistory has 55 seats, all of which were appointed. The majority of the members of the Consistory have organised themselves in political factions, while others sit as independent members. The time between the Second and the Third Consistory saw some political changes, with the Iron Company and various other Verionist-alligned forces uniting themselves in the Kasterburger branch of the Verionist Union. The VU and the nationalist Kasterburger Volksfront, virtually having the same political ideology and connection to the Iron Company, formed a coalition.
