This template summarizes commercial banks, central banks, cooperative banks, development banks, and comparable financial institutions. General businesses without substantial banking functions should use {{Infobox company}}.

To use this template, insert the following code at the beginning of a bank article:

Parameters

Each parameter is optional. Blank parameters are not displayed.

• name: Official or commonly used name. Defaults to the page title.
• native_name: Name in another language or writing system.
• native_name_lang: Language code for the native name.
• logo: Logo filename without brackets.
• logo_size: Optional logo size override.
• image_alt: Concise alternative text for the logo.
• caption: Logo caption.
• type: Type of bank or financial institution.
• founded: Date founded.
• founder: Founder or founders.
• headquarters: Headquarters location.
• jurisdiction: Legal or monetary jurisdiction.
• area_served: Geographic area served.
• owner: Owner or owners.
• parent: Parent company or institution.
• chair: Chair of the governing body.
• chief_executive: Chief executive, governor, or equivalent operational head.
• regulator: Supervising or regulatory authority.
• currency: Currency issued or principally handled, when relevant.
• locations: Number of branches or locations.
• employees: Number of employees.
• assets: Total assets, with date.
• aum: Assets under management, with date.
• deposits: Customer or institutional deposits, with date.
• equity: Total equity, with date.
• website: Official website.
• footnotes: References or explanatory notes.
• nocat: Set to yes to suppress automatic categorization.

Compatibility

The template accepts bank_name for name; image for logo; logo_caption for caption; bank_type for type; foundation or established for founded; location for headquarters; chairman for chair; ceo or governor for chief_executive; branches for locations; num_employees for employees; and homepage for website. These aliases permit straightforward migration from company and central-bank infoboxes.

Categorization

Articles using the template are added to Category:Banks. Categorization occurs only in the main namespace and may be suppressed with |nocat=yes.
