Hah! Yeah, the Hoennese made a big deal out of being civilized and all quiet
and dignified. And sure, if you just go to Nijima, yeah, I don't doubt it's
like that. Ever hear of Asafurano? Yeah, neither had I, until for some reason
they somehow decided to buy their whole municipal grid as a service from my
previous employer, and I was the lucky bastard who got to consult.

Well, I shit you not, the whole week I'm there, they're running a Sume
tournament, and you wouldn't believe how much noise you can get out of a town
that small. First they're stomping their feet and shouting, then they bring
out the ratchets, and they're whooping and they're jeering and they're
certainly doing an awful lot of hollering. And there's some guys in the back
doing this weird droning sound that I guess was... some... sort of ritual
thing? It was seriously resonating in my chest, that's what it was. Every time
one of the fat guys changes their foothold, they get louder, and then they
don't get any less loud until one wins.

I guess it was important to them. But this seriously happened six days in a
row, every night. And we're talking about a seriously tiny affair of a
town. I'm still thankful I could find earplugs. They almost helped.

Hi Morris May! Do you have any more stories about Nijima to share with us? Did
you visit their capital? What was Asafurano like? I get to hear so little
about this culture. Do you know anyone who has more to tell about it?

I mean I did mean it when I said it was a tiny place. And I wasn't a
tourist. Honestly, I got enough of the local culture for a lifetime there
anyway. I only ever saw the capital through windows, I went straight from the
airport to Asafurano and back. As far as I know, it might literally have been
just that one town that was like that.

Who is this Steve guy and how does he have so much time to post inane
questions anyway? Does he sleep or is he some kind of a commune of idiots who
have never seen the outside of a basement?

Sorry! I'm still learning how these styles of interaction work. I'm young, but
I think I'm going to figure it out fast!
