Sports in the Davinson Islands
Sport in the Davinson Islands is mainly associated with ball games such as rugby and football, despite the major aboriginal sport being H'atafai, a special kind of martial arts.
Due to there being limited space on the islands, most grass fields are used for sports such as football and are usually shared with the public to use.
History
The introduction to football and rugby to the islands was by a group of Dauian sailors who'd travelled on the 2nd trip to the islands. They formed the first ever football club in the Davinsons, the Tuan Olympic Football Club (originally known as Tuan Brothers FC). The team would then open their rugby section 2 years later and became the first sports club to have 2 different teams of different sports competing at the nation's highest tier of their respective sport.
The development of sport in the islands is still underway due to lack of funding some years back. The Davinson2025 project is also underway which will target getting the nation into a FMF World Cup.
Football
The nation is heavily dominated by football due to the influence by the Dauians, the nation has its own football league, the Davinson Islands A-Division is the top tier for football in the nation.
Due to the domination of football, many people in the Davinson Islands support local clubs and foreign clubs, the most popular local club in the islands are Tuan Olympic FC, whilst the most popular foreign club are Craitish giants Cherry Trees FC.
Rugby
The islands have only one ground allocated for rugby, the Davinson Islands National Rugby Complex in Tuan. The nation has its own rugby league, being the Davinson Premiership which consists of 6 teams around the islands.
