The Sayaffallan Mallet Association is a professional malletball governing body that regulates, oversees and organizes professional competition of the mallet game.

History

The game of malletball began in 1620 as a gentleman's game primarily done within the royal courts of the country and exclusive to the nobles and elite of the ruling class in Sayaffallah and over the years it was played primarily as a means of strengthening the knight class of the Imperial Guard and eventually faded away during the 1700s as soccer became more popular among the elites in the country.

The game was revived during the 1920s by wealthy industrialists who founded the Sayaffallan Mallet Association and began designing new pitches and rules for the game based upon the original which many only knew as a vague idea rather than anything concrete. The Sayaffallan Mallet Association initially had 2 teams at its beginning now however it has expanded to over 6 teams which play 2 months of matches leading up to a final championship match at the end of the 2nd month of play.

Teams

Attendance

The matches of the Sayaffallan Mallet Association are open to registered ticket-holders typically who are members of the local game association paying monthly dues in order to get favorable seating at matches and to have year round access to the clubs and amenities across the SMA which typically are country club in atmosphere. Attendance typically ranges from 500 to 2500 at matches with it being more of a social activity observed during the course of a seated formal meal.

Today however there is a growing amateur league that runs games during all months out of the year with a final "grand match" taking place the day before the professional match. There are over 2600 different teams across the country organized by fans who are devoted to the sport. Each team belongs to a professional club and professional clubs can have over 200 or more teams at any one location meaning that they often have a large amount of elephants and horses for rent for these different events.
