Alexandretta (Aspiranto: Aleksandreto; Alexandrian: Alexandrette), officially the Royal City of Alexandretta, is the capital and largest city of the Kingdom of Meckelnburgh and its eponymous constituent country of Meckelnburgh. The city is split into four wards: Downtown, Cannery Warf, Albioch and St. Joseph Oaks. It is the financial center of Meckelnburgh, and seat of the Church of Meckelnburgh, home to the Archbishop of Alexandretta. The largest port in Meckelnburgh is in Alexandretta, in the historical Cannery Warf.

The royal city is an autonomous region of Meckelnburgh, having its own elected Lord Mayor and city council. Alexandretta also administers the island of Serkwais in the Gulf of Geneva. The next nearest settlement is east at the suburb Village of Liubz, a resort town in the province of Siegrwangria.

Geography

Alexandretta lies in the Norman Valley in central Meckelnburgh. Downtown sits on the north point of Alexandretta Harbor, at the end of the greater Gulf of Geneva. The Paĉjolageto (Aspiranto for "Father Pond") in St. Joseph Oaks is the largest body of water in Alexandretta. The Lower Alexandria River forms part of the west border of Alexandretta, before turning to flow into Alexandretta Harbor, and separates Cannery Warf from St. Joseph Oaks and Downtown.

History

Alexandretta was formally settled as Geneva, where it served as the first capital of the Empire of the Alexandrians on Apollonia (as opposed to the future capital of the same name on Cibola). The city also lies near the ruins of the Slobovian Republic's city of Siegrwang.
