Reconstruction Through Resistance
The "Reconstruction Through Resistance" program was an emergency economic mobilization initiative launched by the National Salvation Council on 19.III.1745 AN, three days after the devastating New Alexandrian bombardment of Vanie during Operation Lightning Dawn.[1] The program, announced by Council President Joseph Fouche as part of the broader war effort against the Raspur Pact in the Fourth Euran War, combined reconstruction of damaged infrastructure with expanded military production under the slogan "Every brick rebuilt strengthens our defense."
The initiative implemented comprehensive economic controls including expanded rationing of consumer goods, mandatory overtime shifts in defense-related industries, and the redirection of all available civilian resources toward military objectives. Central to the program was the mobilization of the National Youth Service of Oportia, whose members were deployed to clear rubble from bombed areas while receiving military training, creating a visible symbol of national resilience amid the destruction. The program justified these harsh economic measures by displaying continuous footage of civilian casualties and destroyed buildings from the bombardment, successfully leveraging public anger over foreign attacks to build support for the regime.
