The Organizzazione Internazionale della Lingua Gaianiana (OILG; also called Gaianofonia or International Organization of the Gaian Language, IOGL) is an international organization representing countries and regions where Gaian is a lingua franca or customary language, where a significant proportion of the population are gaianophones (Gaian speakers), or where there is a notable affiliation with Gaian culture. The purpose of the organization is to promote Gaian language, supporting education, training, higher education and scientific research. Entry into the organization is spontaneous: the only requirement is the diffusion of the language within the requesting country.

History

In 1707 AN, following several trilateral talks between Vegno, Cisamarra and Tellia, the Organizzazione Internazionale della Lingua Gaianiana was founded. The mission, established from the beginning, is to promote the language and culture that unite Gaian-speaking peoples. Furthermore, the organization aims to increase the political influence of the Gaianophone nations in Micras.

Structure

Executive Secretariat (Segretario Generale)

The Secretary General of the OILG is elected during the Summit, and serves as the spokesperson and the official representative internationally of the political actions of the organization. The Secretary General is responsible for proposing priority areas for multilateral OILG actions. Secretary's job is to facilitate multilateral cooperation between members and to ensure that programs and activities of all operating agencies work in harmony. The Secretary General carries out his/her four-year mandate under the authority of the three main institutions of the OILG: the Summits, the Ministerial Conference and the Permanent Council.

Summits

The Summit, the highest authority in the OILG, is held every two years and gathers the Heads of states and governments of all member countries of the Gaianofonia around themes of discussion. It is chaired by the Head of state and government of the host country, and this person assumes that responsibility until the next Summit. By enabling the Heads of state and government to hold a dialogue on all of the international issues of the day, the Summit serves to develop strategies and goals of the OILG so as to ensure the organisation's influence on the world scene.

Permanent Council

The Permanent Council of the Gaianofonia gathers the Ambassadors of the member countries, chaired by the General Secretary of the OILG and under the authority of the Ministerial Conference. Its main task is to plan Summits. This conference also supervises the execution of the Summit decisions made by the ministerial conferences on a day-to-day basis, about the examination of the propositions of the budget distribution.
