Oer

The Oer is a tributary of the Rhijne in the region of Ingelheim, Batavia.

The Oer begins as a branch of the Rhijne near Cronesteyn, after which the river flows southwards. A reservoir has been constructed on the Oer at Vinandy. Just past Vinandy, the small river Loet flows into the Oer.

The river splits into two branches near the village of Nesse. The branch that flows into the Sluyswater at Sluys is also known as the SluysOer. The other branch of the Oer flows into the Oerdiep.

The name ‘Oer’ should be pronounced in its original form with a clear emphasis on the ‘oe’ sound and the ‘r’ barely pronounced.
