National Anthem of Kalgachia
The National Anthem of Kalgachia is a modest two verses, composed by a special committee of the state church to the tune of an old Laqi hymn. It is sung in schoolhouses at the beginning of each day, played on Kalgachi televison and radio at either end of their broadcasting day, and bugled across military garrisons during sunrise and sunset. It can also be heard being sung drunkenly during sports events, often substituted with idiomatic or downright obscene lyrics. The official lyrics are as follows:
Kalgachia, our gratitude to you
Lost were our peoples, countless lives cast askew
When with the winds, your mountains called us loud
And they led us safe to our granite home in the clouds
Here, we stand and we survive
Our dead the muse of we who stand alive
As long as Mount Octavian flies our flag
Like the Shrub we cannot truly die.
Farewell Minarbor, gone into the soil
Leaving your light to brightly shine through us all
Behold the Garden, ours alone to grow
In the image of your chthonic source down below
This we'll go about with pride
Swayed not by foreign schemes or fratricide
As long as Mount Octavian flies our flag
Like the Shrub we cannot truly die.
