The MSS Irene is a microsatellite for electro-optical imaging that is produced by Javelin Industries through its space subsidiary Minerva Space Systems. Its purpose is to provide on-demand multispectral imagery with a resolution that is useful for tactical purposes. It can accomplish this by directly downlinking the imagery to military commanders and intelligence centers within a short time frame (<10 minutes) of receiving the task, without relying on a satellite or ground-based relay network.
