Lucas Matias de Barceló, is a Nouvelle Alexandrie philosopher, politician, and author. He is best remembered for his fierce defence of democracy in the aftermath of the Spring Crisis of 1739, and has been called, by members of the so-called Crisis Generation, 'Nuestra Voz' (Martino: Our Voice). He wrote the famous In Defence of Democracy and Liberty alongside Ignacio Vaquero, a series of essays that has since been compared in scope and impact to the Essays on Liberty by Gustierrez, Acaran, and Patrallez. He is also known for writing a column in The Aldurian.

While a member of the Federal Consensus Party for most of his adult life, he broke with the party in the aftermath of the Spring Crisis of 1739, which also had a profound impact on his philosophical ideals.
