History

Juniyeh Field pictured in more recent times which served as the first stadium for the Juniyeh Typhoons. It now serves as the field for Juniyeh College.

This team was founded in 1951 and began playing games at Juniyeh Field a small stadium with seating for roughly 4,000 people. By 1961 approximately 10 years after its founding the team's record at winning 5 regional championships boosted its profile and brought even more people to games with the stands completely full and over 40,000 people gathering on the steep hillsides surrounding the field to watch the games unfold without having to buy a ticket. Well in 1961 the team applied for admission into the SRL and was granted admission the same year with a provision that they would finish the 1961 season in the regional league and undertake their first SRL games in the 1962 season.

In 1962 the team began playing SRL games in its small and cramped Juniyeh Field and found tremendous success making it to the Semi-Final game of the SRL in 1962 and also the following year and finally making it to the National Championship game in 1966 which they won to wide national acclaim for their playing style and coaching finesse. The team undertook major renovations but had to abandon the plans after a major flood caused extensive damage to the playing surface and the stands surrounding the field. In 1970 the team bought and purchased land and built a 75,000 seat stadium which was named Juniyeh National Stadium. In 1982 the team won its second National Championship and commissioned a Hall of Champions to be constructed outside of the main entrance which meant visitors would walk past its display of accomplishments on their way into the stadium.

Juniyeh National Stadium is a 75,000 seat stadium featuring an entrance for supporters and a separate entrance for visitors meaning that visitors and supporters typically never meet during a game at all as they are separated by entrances and then different sections. The visitors section of the stadium is completely self contained with its own restrooms and concessions and areas of entertainment while the supporting side has more amenities but is also self-contained. Juniyeh Stadium is also the home of the Juniyeh Hunters a professional American football team meaning the stadium receives dual use in different seasons.
