Highpass Constabulary

The Highpass Constabulary is the national police force of Highpass. Traditionally organised as single constables in the many villages of Highpass, that structure still persist to modern times. The capital city of Rhodondra technically has one constable only, with all other police officers being temporarily deputised volunteers. In practice however, the force is a permanent and professional service. To maintain the formal temporary volunteer status of its employees, contracts are signed "for the duration of needed service" and officers are provided with free housing, meals, clothing and other amenities in lieu of salaries. Officers are also issued promissory notes to supplement their allowances, since these are technically not considered legal tender.
