Harold James Fitzsimond, (b.1902-d.1934) was a wealthy magazine publisher and early playboy of the 19th Century well known for founding the malletball team the Beyrouth Savages, the son of a wealthy passenger ship line owner and a famous opera singer.

The life of Harold Fitzsimond

Harold James Fitzsimond was born in the mountain town of Aras where his parents were vacationing at the time. Upon his birth he was raised by a governess until the age of 12 when he was sent to a formal boarding school to finish his education and to learn the principles of refined leadership. Harold Fitzsimond attended the Royal Military College for his final years of education and entered into service with the Royal Army for a period of 2 years after which he was summarily marshalled out of the service for dereliction of duty and for corrupting the standards of the service by bringing hordes of women onto the base he was assigned.

Harold soon became involved in the creation of a series of adventure magazines taking readers into far off unexplored jungles and exposing them to native tribes that once ruled the land on which Sayaffallah sits. These magazines became wildly popular and served to further enrich the pockets of Harold who used the money to buy the adjoining land next to his inherited oceanfront estate. At the age of 24 Harold along with 10 of his friends established the malletball team of the Beyrouth Savages and began to hold private matches using elephants he purchased from a traveling circus.

At the age of 26 Harold grew tired of malletball and formally retired from the sport by holding a massive 2 week day after day party with endless fireworks at night and over 6,000 friends and invited guests from across the country including a visit from the Crown Prince of Sayaffallah who later became Sultan of Sayaffallah and would occasionally mention the wild party he attended with his friend Harold long ago.

The life of Harold Fitzsimond however was cut tragically short at the tender age of 32 following a car accident during a thunderstorm during which his car lost control at high speed and plunged off a cliff into the ocean below. Harold managed to escape the car but is believed to have been attacked by a shark which severed his body in half. The upper half of his body was found partially digested the following morning as it washed ashore a public beach while the lower half was found after a great white shark was recovered the following day.

Legacy

Harold Fitzsimond is well remembered for his part in founding one of the first malletball clubs in the country the Beyrouth Savages.Upon his death the estate he once lived on was donated per his request for the founding of an official malletball club with formal playing fields to make it more professional. The donation of Harold Fitzsimond spurned the creation of the Beyrouth Royal Mall Club (BRMC) which became the official location for the Beyrouth Savages.

Harold Fitzsimond is buried on the grounds of the BRMC in a large ornate mausoleum overlooking the cliffs and ocean he once beloved when he lived on the property. Harold is also commemorated by a large statue and a wreath laying ceremony on the anniversary of his death each year.
