The Government House of Nouvelle Alexandrie, also known as the Federal Estate of Cárdenas, is the official residence and workplace of the President of the Government of Nouvelle Alexandrie. It is located at the Plaza del Gobierno in the Government Triangle District in Cárdenas. It has been the official residence of the President since 1687 AN when the building was finished. Before that, the President held offices at the Legislative Palace.

The House includes 12 buildings, a bunker, and an infirmary. The Office of the President of the Government, the Office of the Vice-President of the Government, the Council of State, and the Press Office are located in this complex. The weekly meetings of the Council of State are also held at the House.

The House was constructed in 1686 AN as part of the New Prosperity Plan and the Cárdenas Plan to become the official location of the President of the Government. The building was completed in 1687 AN. The site was chosen halfway between the Royal Palace and the Legislative Palace, to allow the President of the Government to travel to both sides with ease. The building exterior is known for its brown brickwork and rectangular windows, as well as its simple front door design. It has only one entrance at the Council Building in the center of the complex. The building was renovated at large in 1706 AN, accommodating new furniture and electronics.

Buildings and rooms

Presidential Apartment

The residence of the President are located in the north side of the complex. Designed to balance privacy and accessibility, it combines both living quarters and working spaces. The centerpiece is the Presidential Room, a formal office where the President carries out daily duties, hosts foreign dignitaries, and conducts smaller, private meetings.

The apartment is strictly separated from the administrative sections of the complex, ensuring security and discretion. Access is restricted to staff and invited guests, though certain ceremonial occasions - such as the reception of foreign heads of state - take place within the Presidential Room. Beyond the office, the apartment includes private living rooms, a dining salon, bedrooms for the First Family, and a small library.

The Presidential Office, notable for its ornately decorated walls, and a formal desk that has been used by every president since the establishment of the Federation.

Adjacent to the Presidential Apartment is the Vice-Presidential Apartment, slightly smaller in scale but constructed in a similar style. It also contains private quarters and an office for the Vice-President, allowing close collaboration between the two offices while maintaining independence.

Council Building

At the heart of the complex lies the Council Building, the meeting place of the Council of State. This structure is the symbolic and functional core of the executive branch. Its central chamber, the Council Room, is a circular hall with a domed ceiling decorated with allegorical frescoes symbolizing unity, law, and the people. The chamber is furnished with a round table to emphasize collegiality and equal voice among the members of the Council of State.

Surrounding the chamber are auxiliary spaces, including a reception hall used for ceremonial entrances, conference rooms for committee-level discussions, and guest suites to accommodate visiting ministers, advisors, or regional leaders. The building also houses most of the offices of the Council’s permanent staff, who support the daily operation and protocol of government.

Cabinet Office

On the western side of the complex stands the Cabinet Office, home to the personal staff of the President. The building functions as the operational headquarters of the Office of the President, coordinating schedules, policy briefs, and communication between the President and other branches of government. The Chief of Staff’s office, located on the first floor, serves as the nerve center of the building and directly oversees the workflow of the presidency.

The Cabinet Office also includes working spaces for advisors on domestic and foreign affairs, as well as logistical offices responsible for coordinating travel, protocol, and internal communications.

General Commission Office

The General Commission Office, located in a smaller building on the southern edge of the complex, houses the Ministry of the Presidency. This ministry serves as the principal liaison between the executive and the Cortes Federales, as well as regional and municipal governments across Nouvelle Alexandrie.

The building is named in honor of the General Advisory Commission to the Ministers, a historical advisory body that shaped the development of the modern Council of State. Within the office, staff draft agenda items for Cabinet meetings, prepare briefing materials for the President and Vice-President, and coordinate intergovernmental relations.

Press Office

The Press Office, situated north of the Presidential Apartment, serves as the central hub for government communication. Its most prominent feature is the Press Room, where the government’s ministers and spokespersons hold regular press briefings and issue official statements. The room is equipped with modern facilities for both domestic and international media, including simultaneous translation booths and audiovisual broadcasting systems.

The office of the Spokesperson of the Government is also located here, alongside the editorial staff of The Federal Gazette, the official government publication of record. The Gazette is produced in cooperation with the Office of National Records, which ensures archival accuracy and historical preservation.

Other buildings

The whole complex has 12 buildings that are used for different services of the President's Office, such as catering, security, protocol and ceremonial services, health services, and archiving. These auxiliary buildings, while less visible to the public, form the essential infrastructure that allows the Government House to function as the executive seat of Nouvelle Alexandrie.

Presidential Office

The Residential Office lies within the House. It is staffed by a mix of career Civil Servants and Advisers. The highest ranking of the Office is the Chief of Staff which is a political appointment on which the rest of the Office officials depend. The staff are non-partisan by nature, but are selected by the President themselves, on advice and consent of the Cortes Federales.
