The Federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission (FNRC) is an independent agency of the New Alexandrian federal government responsible for regulating nuclear power generation, nuclear materials, and Alexandrium technology. Established in 1693 AN, the FNRC's primary mission is to protect public health and safety related to nuclear energy while promoting the common defense and security of the Federation. The Commission consists of five members appointed by the King upon recommendation from the President of the Government and confirmation by the Federal Assembly.
The FNRC oversees all civilian and military uses of nuclear materials in the Federation, including nuclear power plants, research reactors, and Alexandrium facilities. It played a crucial role in developing the Micran Alexandrium Safety Standards, in partnership with AlduATOM. The Commission maintains inspection teams at all nuclear facilities and has the authority to issue licenses, impose fines, and order plant closures for safety violations. Following the Spring Crisis of 1739, the FNRC's mandate was expanded to include enhanced security protocols for all nuclear and Alexandrium installations throughout the Federation.
