The Federal Apprenticeship Program is a federal program of the government of Nouvelle Alexandrie, which provides opportunities for individuals to learn job-specific skills with on-the-job training and classroom instruction. It is administered by the Department of Labor.
It is designed to help individuals acquire skills and knowledge for specific jobs, while also ensuring a steady income during the training period. The program works through four parts:
- Employers Partnerships: the program meets with employers to develop and implement apprenticeship programs to meet their specific needs, including with training to perform mentoring and supervision duties for apprentices.
- Classroom Instruction: apprentices receive instruction to supplement on-the-job training, focusing on safety, technical skills, and communication.
- Wage progression: the program assists apprentices to receive reasonable and progressive wages, as well as incentives for additional training.
- Certification: the program establishes certifications for apprenticeships to ensure proper standards and quality of skills and knowledge.
The program is especially focused on providing apprenticeships in high-demand occupations.
