Batavia erit in orbe ultima
The motto of the kingdom of Batavia is "Batavia erit in orbe ultima" which is written in Audente and a translation for Batavië zal tot het einde van de wereld blijven bestaan. In the Common Tongue it means as much as Batavia will continue to exist until the end of the world). This motto was introduced at the time of the Second Kingdom.
Bátávieju zal tot hut eindu van du wéruld bleivun bustán! is the Batavian translation.
Origin
The motto was adopted by the Batavian Lagerhuis in 1578 AN after long discussions about which statement could become the motto of the nation. Ultimately, the members of the Lagerhuis, through the Liberals and Conservative Monarchists, agreed to switch to a Batavian translation for the saying.
Meaning
The translation of the motto is Batavia will continue to exist until the end of the world. This did not mean, as the saying suggests, that Batavia will exist forever. However, the Batavians believed - and expressed the hope - that their nation had reached a cultural wealth that would keep inspiring their descendants, even if the Kingdom would ever fall.
