Economy
The economy of Ande is anchored by the pharmaceutical industry. Farmacéutica del Ande operates its main research campus and manufacturing facilities in the city, employing thousands of residents in drug development, production, and distribution. The company has gained prominence for its work in Alexandrium-based medical research and traditional plant-derived medicines, drawing on the region's rich botanical heritage.
The surrounding highlands support a productive agricultural sector. Coffee cultivation predominates on the lower hillsides, while the cooler upper valleys produce potatoes, beans, maize, and quinoa.
