Biography

Early Life

Kim was born to Taesongean parents in Noursala. Both of his parents immigrated to Aerla from Kunapura. His father worked manual labor jobs while his mother worked as a waitress.

He attended Auburn Polytechnic University and obtained a master's degree in Urban Planning in 1731 AN. He received employment as a planner in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport the following year, helping in the development of road and rail infrastructure projects in and around Agalore. He left the position in 1740 AN, as the Ministry faced massive salary cuts as part of policies in place by the newly-elected Sabbagh administration.

National Assembly Career

In 1742 AN, Kim was elected as mayor of the Bergen, a medium-sized city north of Noursala. He led a grassroots campaign on issues of urban development, infrastructure upgrades, and accountability. He held this position until 1745 AN, when he stepped down to run for the National Assembly in the 1745 election.

Kim was elected to represent the Parish of Jacques, and took his seat after the election. Due to his experience in urban planning, he sat on the Committee on Regional Development. He won reelection in 1750 AN. In 1752 AN he proposed the Housing and Urban Development Act, which created a dedicated ministry for such purposes. The act's passage was lauded by President Thomas Guthrie, who himself campaigned for increased urban development outside of the main Noursala-Agalore Corridor.

In 1757 AN, Kim announced he would campaign to succeed Guthrie as President of Aerla and leader of the Aerlan Democratic Party. He would win the ADP Primary in 1759 AN against Agalore technology executive Wallace Neumann while campaigning on a progressive campaigning.

Presidency

Kim would win the 1760 Presidential election with 48.1% of the popular vote.
