Agriculture is one of the primary economic sectors in Sankt Ludwigshafen, employing twenty-three percent of the population in 1690. The country produces wheat and beet roots but is best known for its dairy products such as its cheeses and cured meat products. Farmers in Sankt Ludwigshafen were responsible for developing the highly considered Zibolerrind dual-purpose cattle breed.
