Yueyushe

The Yueyushe (Python changzhi) is a large non-venomous snake of South Apollonia. The snake is a member of the Pythonidae family. The Jingdaoese name, literally meaning "prison escape snake", refers to the use of the animal, which is placed in the moats of prisons to catch escaping inmates. The snake was first discovered in the marshy forests west of Changzhi by an unfortunate group of hikers who fell into a ditch where the snake lived. The yueyushe is closely related to the Limbless mule (P. erazm).

Characteristics

Hatchlings of P. Changzhi range from 20 to 50 cm in total length. Adult snakes are usually between 170 and 200 cm, regardless of sex. The animals are substantially thicker than other snakes known to Micras, but not as thick as P. Erazm. They have spikes on their back and on their head which they press into their prey as they strangle and bite it, but they are not related to dragons. The snakes can reach an age of 25 to 30 Norton years in captivity, it is not known what age they reach in the wild. They are ambush predators who are known to attack small prey such as rodents, rabbits and hares, but also larger prey such as deer or humans.

Usage

In Jingdaoese prisons, the yueyushe is often placed in a moat surrounding the prison walls to make escape even more hazardous. Because of their reliable aggression, they can also be used for executions.
