Weerstandsmonument
The Weerstandsmonument, known in Istvanistani as the Monument of Resistance, is located in Stuyven and constructed in the aftermath of the Grootu Trek Oostwaarts and Fall Schwartz-Tilman campaign. It was originally meant to be built on the remains of the Naye-Masada Fortress in Nackholm, which was used as a training ground for partisans during the Minarborian era, but the invasion of the city by Shireroth led to a change in plans.
Meant to be a symbol of national unity and resistance against any foreign power, it was also controversial as the funding of the project was expensive and could probably have been better used to reconstruct other parts of the city which had been bombed by Shirerithian bomber planes.
The construction took place between 1660 and 1661 and was eventually inaugurated in the presence of Vryheer August Baerdemans on 12.02.1661. Presently the monument exists within the boundaries of the Batavian Confederation in the aftermath of the conflicts between Voortrekkers, Yehudim, and Imperials that ended in the favour of the former upon the occasion of the Kalirion Fracture ending Shirerithian power in the west of Benacia.
