The vehicle registration plates are mandatory registration marks on the most of motor vehicles operating on the public roads of Byalia.

Plate format

{{{1}}} This article or section is a work in progress. The information below may be incomplete, outdated, or subject to change.

Standard Byalic plates are rectangular with dimensions 520 mm × 110 mm (20½ in × 4⅜ in), while special size plates with dimensions 280 mm × 200 mm (11 in × 7⅞ in) are applied on vehicles such as motorcycles, certain imported cars and other vehicles where standard plates are not appliable with available space.

Plate Used for Description
Byalia regular plates.png Private vehicles Vehicle registration plates for private vehicles are black text with white background and outline, starting with regional code, coat of arms with two-letter code of the duchy, followed by a combination of either three or four numbers and two letters.
Byalia commercial plates.png Commercial vehicles Commercial vehicles plates are white text with light blue background and outline, using the same format as private vehicles. Commercial vehicles are regulated by law and are defined as all vehicles whose main purpose is provision of services for companies, organizations or farms. Vehicles such as vans and utility trailers can be registered as private vehicles if they are strictly for personal use.
Byalia emergency services plates.png Emergency vehicles Emergency services plates have white text on dark blue background and outline. They start with ХС (Byalic: Хитная служба, meaning emergency service) followed by coat of arms and the code of branch of emergency services they belong to (М, Х, П and С for police, paramedics, firefighters and search and rescue teams), ending with three random numbers and a letter.
Byalia diplomatic plates.png Diplomatic vehicles Diplomatic registration plates in Byalia are yellow text, black background and yellow outline, starting with ДВ (Byalic: Дипломатско возило, meaning diplomatic vehicle), followed by coat of arms, a diplomatic code (in this example 12 for Çakaristan), coat of arms or emblem of the diplomatic mission, ending with three numbers.

Private roads and properties

Byalic law strictly cites vehicle registration plates are only needed for driving on the public roads, and doesn't obligate them on private roads and properties - for instance, almost all agricultural workers who own one or more but continuous pieces of agricultural land choose not to register their agricultural vehicles because they do not use the public roads but are only operated within the private property. In case of a need for usage of public roads by such vehicles, they are either towed by a registered vehicle or issued temporary plates.
