Vatkavish

The Vatkavish people are a people and ethnic group that originates in the Ciric Confederacy, but has since spread throughout the green regions of Micras. The group is known for its prominant frontierism that causes most of its members to leave their home region of Paroka and travelling to foreign continents to create agrarian settlements, which are a part of the confederacy's income of agricultural products, though it does have domestic farms that are underground. The Vatkavish are not one of the most populous ethnic groups on Micras, but they may be one of the most widespread due to their frontierism.

History

Though many historical documents in what is now the Ciric Confederacy were destroyed following the discovery of the Anningheim Documents in the thirteenth century AN, it is known that the city of Zaisten was created by the Vatkavish and is believed to be the oldest city on Sypyr, which would indicate that the Vatkavish were native to the island prior to even the Parokans coming to claim the area.

Following the unification of the confederacy in the mid-fifteenth century AN, the frontierism associated with the Vatkavish became extremely prominant, with the people venturing out into the unclaimed portions of Sypyr almost immediately after the confederacy became unified. This was swiftly followed by a mass exodus of Vatkavish people to all continents of Micras (except Benacia), with the Vatkavish travelling out into the green all over the world. The Vatkavish further cemented their reputation as travellers with the founding of Vatakan.

Confederate Census

As of 1680 AN, out of 241,758 self-identified Vatkavish living in the Ciric Confederacy, 48.2% were male, 49.1% were female, and 2.7% identified as non-binary. 0.9% lived below the poverty line, and the average household income was Ƶ33,000. 98.7% were employed, and 78.3% of individuals above the age of 26 possessed college degrees. 1,475 individuals identified as Vatkavish had ever been convicted of a felony.

Areas with significant population

Note: While the confederacy tries to maintain contacts with travelling Vatkavish settlements, some groups disappeared from contact after leaving the confederacy, so these numbers may not be entirely accurate.
