Tulsham /ˈtʌlsəm/ is a wiki-based nation which forms part of the Democratic Union. It is located in western Keltia, situated between Lake Tulsa and Red Lake, and its capital is Inversalley.
Etymology
The name Tulsham comes primarily from the word Tulsa, which is the name of the lake situated to the north-east of the territory. The ending -ham is likely to originate from the name of the former nation Hamland, which previously claimed the territory and subsequently influenced a large amount of its culture, as well as being a common English ending for location names which equates to the word home.
History
Politics
Tulsham's political setup is unique on Micras, as the planet's only known triarchy. Tulsham's triarchs are selected to lead the nation and represent it in the Union Senate through a multitude of means, ranging from hereditary titles to plebiscite voting as determined by a variety of permutations. These unorthodox and inconsistent means of determining the holders of the triarchs' positions leaves Tulsham's system to be described as semi-elective.
This system exists due to the positions' historical ties with the clan system that has existed within the lands since time immemorial. Tulsham's governance is intrinsically linked with the chronology of the three clans whose heads helped form Tulsham from the aftermath of the demise of Caputia. As a result, Tulsham's triarchs often have regnal numbers that do not directly correspond to their holding of the role; e.g. William XIII was one of the three inaugural Tulshammish triarchs but is the thirteenth of his name to be head of the Caimbeul clan.
