Treaty between Hurmu and the Federation of West Skerry and Sri Pashana
The Treaty between Hurmu and the Federation of West Skerry and Sri Pashana is a treaty between Hurmu, on one part, and the Federation of West Skerry and Sri Pashana, on the other part. It was signed on 15.VIII.1693 AN by Senators Jan Spiik and Ellen Aarevalla for Hurmu and by President Reginald Jackson for West Skerry and Sri Pashana. The treaty was signed in Sri Sendavica, the largest city of the Federation.
Among other things, the treaty established diplomatic relations between the countries, established cooperation in the fields of art, culture, sciences and education. Moreover, the countries promised one another friendship, non-interference, and regulated trade. Finally, visa-free travel for tourists of 90 days per calendar year was agreed.
During the signing ceremony, media considered it awkward. After Ellen Aarevalla had shook hands with President Jackson, they shared a short conversation, and then both looked cold. Immediately following the shaking of hands, both were observed to put alcohol on their hands and leave the ceremony. It is unknown what happened. Media in Hurmu called upon the Senate to apologise, and to take Ellen Aarevalla out of chairing its foreign affairs committee. Meanwhile, the newly established WSP embassy in Vesüha toned down the event saying that the two signatories had attempted to joke with one another and misunderstood each other. They are now friends, according to the embassy.
