Strategic Potato Reserve

The Strategic Potato Reserve is a project by the Barbarian Republic to prevent food shortages. The republic subsidises the cultivation of potatoes, the production of frozen potato products and their storage in cold stores, and the manufacturing and storage of dehydrated potato products such as instant mashed potatoes. Complementary to the stimulation of private solutions, the republic stores 1 kilogram of mashed potatoes per citizen in government controlled warehouses in each city. The policy leads to an overproduction of potatoes in Barbary, much of which is converted into potato crisps and other snacks, but also into distilled liquors.
