Springville

Historically, the city of Springville was the site of the attacks which led to a very brief war against the arctic nation of Durntkinstan, in the days of the first Republic. The city, which was originally established in 2733 ASC, fell into disrepair and abandonment during the periods of Gralun and Craitish rule, and was reestablished by the Kingdom of Hamland in 3355 ASC in the period prior to the rise of the Pirate States.

Like Kingsland, Springville has long been overshadowed by its neighbor to the South, at least in terms of history and cultural identity. As of 5231 ASC, Springville maintained Passas’ fifth largest economy, behind Nuncrest but ahead of Northman. The majority of the city’s citizens are employed by Central Grain and its subsidiaries, though many in the region are also employed by HaemBeer. Commerce is another driving factor in Springville. More major roads lead through Springville than through any other Passasian state except for Zibert.

Springville is among the nation’s most conservative cities. Though few in numbers, the last followers of the shamanistic Pallisican traditions reside in the communities which litter the hills around the city. The remote location of the town of Cannassas in particular has made it a hotbed for several cults, including the Isau who practice ritual mutilation, and the Fausi, who venture on a yearly pilgrimage across the Hammish Highlands. Other notable cults located in the Province of Springville are the Atkje, who believe that their ancestors bred with the Gamesmen of the Nietzean Mountains, and the Elorans, otherwise known as the Kjuut, who worship the Pallisican Goddess of Love and Confusion.
