Senyan people, or Senyans, (Senyan: Sanya ræs) are a Germanic ethnic group native to Northwestern Apollonia. Senyans were effectively a stateless people until 1589, when the Senyan state was founded. Whilst the vast majority of Senyans live within Senya, they can also be found elsewhere in The Green, particularly in Apollonia, as well as a minority in several other nations.

Characteristics

Typical traits are pale skin, blue/green eyes and brown to blonde hair. Senyans are also relatively tall, with the average height around 189 cm for men and 181 cm for women.

Culture

Senyan people a bit weird tbh. But like, in a really likeable way.

Sport

Sport plays a massive role in Senyan society, and ties in with the view that people should lead healthy lives. Popular sports include football, ice hockey, rugby, handball and badminton, though many other sports are also extremely popular. Hiking and cycling are also popular, and Senya is home to a network of trails. Senyans are typically stereotyped as being "outdoorsy people".

Sport is also seen as a major point of self-identity, with many Senyans leaning on fandom of sports teams as a central facet of their identity. Senyan football fan culture in particular has helped popularise the football ultras scene across Micras.

Religion

Senyans are typically atheistic. Prior to the establishment of the Senyan state, a considerable number of Senyans were religious, belonging to protestant sects of Nazarene, today the vast majority of Senyans are no longer religious. This shift occurred in tandem with an increased focus in Senyan society upon intelligence and scientific understanding, which led to many to view religion as superstition. However, Senyans are not typically anti-religious, and are welcoming of others' religious beliefs, so long as they do not impact on their own way of life.

Attitudes to sex and sexuality

Senyans have a liberal attitude to sex. Sex is not seen as a taboo topic, and honest and frank conversations are common place. Homosexuality is seen as a normal part of human sexuality and same-sex relations are viewed no differently than opposite sex relationships. Senyans also don't see non-monogamous relationships or arrangements as controversial, although these are still very much minority arrangements. In Senya, sex education is a compulsory topic taught from the age of 9 upwards, with the subject being taught at an age appropriate level. Despite Senyans' comfort talking about sex, in public, sexual images and displays of sex are either limited of banned, as Senyans view that public spaces should be suitable for families with children. Furthermore, whilst sex is seen as an important component of life satisfaction, an over obsession with sex is seen more negatively. Prostitution remains illegal in Senya and is seen as exploitative.
