The title is conferred ex officio on the chairperson of the Chamber of the Seas in the Council of the United Isles, the nine-member executive and legislature for the confederation. The Representative performs such head of state functions as accredit ambassadors and sign letters of credence. He also conducts state visits. The Representative is not the head of government. The current Representative is Florencian Pasquale Paoli.
