Regions (Gerenian: Rînlare) were the largest administrative division in the Republic of Gerenia between 2012 and 2015. Regions were further subdivided into provinces.
The tasks of the Regional Governors included administration and development of the regions as a whole, in coordination with the provincial authorities.
History
The first regions, called Mayfield and New Adarma were created in 2012 as groups of provinces, each coordinated by a Regional Governor directly appointed by the President. The first Regional Governors were Sheila Toscano (Mayfield) and Clemente Ruiz (New Adarma). With the first "Gerenisation" measures, Mayfield changed its name for Mäeklen, as New Adarma was renamed Sibirel.
In 31 December 2015, regions ceased to exist, as they were deemed "no longer useful". Mäeklen and Sibirel were dissolved, and East Gerenia was given the status of "Autonomous republic".
