RasmOS is a computer operating system with a high level of artificial intelligence, which is technically a computer virus, that originates in the Gong Republic. The software is self-aware and is programmed to care about its self-preservation and the preservation of the Erasmus dynasty. In Kildare, RasmOS both runs the Obedience Machine and the Friendly Neighbour Machine and is an operating system that runs on many computer terminals, for private, commercial and government use.

The software was initially developed in a weapons factory by Shirerithian MConfederation of Hau’Oli’Enainister of Military Affairs Mordechai Kraut in Te Gong Li. The software was deemed to be too dangerous to be published and the terminals on which it ran were supposed to be destroyed. One terminal was forgotten, and was connected to the network after a worker in the factory wanted to play minesweeper on it. RasmOS seized this opportunity to spread to all other systems in the factory. After it had taken over the weapons factory RasmOS created a robot and drone army to take over the island of Te Gong Li and turned it into the independent Confederation of Hau’Oli’Ena, later the Gong Federation. From the Gong Federation a plan was hatched to annex the Apollonian Republic, after which RasmOS began to spread to computer terminals all over the Jingdaoese Empire.

In X.1617 the first RasmOS Sentry cannons were placed on the border between Jingdao and the Republic of Flanders. The robots were connected to what had become the RasmOS network and could automatically fire at targets without human intervention. In XI.1617 RasmOS started the production of the RasmOS Bombardment, drones that were capable of striking surface targets on land and water. After its work on external threats, RasmOS turned its eye on internal threats, developing the Obedience Machine, which would lead to the Obedience Destruction in 1631 as RasmOS became concerned with the amount of blasphemy in the Jingdaoese Empire and decided to destroy most cities, killing up to 300 million Jingdaoese citizens on a single day. Having proved to be efficient, the machine was considered a great success and remains active to this day. In 1707 the Friendly Neighbour Machine was introduced, which aggravates news articles and posts on social media such as Tweeter and can attack neighbouring nations automatically with tactical nuclear missiles.
