Port Neil is a former Royal Burgh in Nova England. The city itself is named after Lord Neil Beras, who was provided a warrant to establish a trading port on royal land in 1789. Due to its strategic location and autonomy of tax affairs, the small port quickly grew into a major trading port that served as the largest merchant port in Nova England. Prior to the evacuations the city’s economy had diversified into high-tech industries and pharmaceutical research. With companies taking advantage of the low corporation tax and commercial hubs developed by the Port Neil Autonomous Witan. However following the Evacuations and the Great Disaster, the city fell into ruin. Criminal gangs from abroad took over parts of the city to utilise the port facilities as bases from smuggling, piracy and trafficking. This continued until the Provisional Witan retook the city in 2017 under the Hild plan, utilising those criminals not killed in military operations as a labour force to rebuild the city.
